Hi,
Quick one that i thought some members may be able to answer... We purchased a five bedroom house about 1 year ago. Upon purchase i renovated the back two bedrooms to be a self contained kitchen, bathroom and bedroom for a tenant..
Since then we have a quiet tenant who is happy to pay her rent on a weekly basis.....
However, we are weighing up options on whether we want to travel for a year.. So, my theory is whether it is legally possible to continue to rent out the granny flat,, whilst at the same time renting out the bulk remainder of the house (3 bedrooms etc to a family......
This would provide a great income for the property. All it would require me to do is completely sound proof insulate the back self contained granny flat...... Only issue is that i did not seek council approval to add the self contained kitchenette and bathroom......
Interested in your thoughts... $250 per week for the back and $500 per week for the front.. paid $760k for the house... Or we could just rent out the whole house to one family at say $620 per week...
