Since it's a quiet night and you all know how I love my greenies :D , I'm wondering how many points you might have. Those coloured dots don't tell the real tale.

Is anybody over 10,000 yet ?

Maybe we should have a chart:

10,000 + Must be on the ubeaut payroll

8,000 + getting there, need to buy a swansdown mop

6,000 + work to be done, need to get agro with and have a post or two deleted

4,000+ Have to buy a TSC-10HB and contribute to a forum where a newbie wants to know if they should convert from a Triton

2,000 + need to post a pic of some current woodworking project and ask for comments. (borrow one from next door if you cvan't make anything)

1,000+ Zed or one of his friends

0 That boat bloke :)

Where do you fit in ?

How much do I get for a photo of a naked stink? It goes without saying that I will have an appropriately placed tool.

Quite right.

All that rep points measure is how often you've given your fellow forum members a laugh.

If you think your going to get "repped up " for your woodworking knowledge, forget it.

Having said that, I'm pleased that I've been able to spread a few laughs in the 18 months or so that rep points have been around.

Id just like to say I give out far more green than red as all you purse carrying nancy boys well know!

sometimes in order to use up the quota you gotta give em out just so you can give to where you want to really give em.

having said that I give em out a fair bit (obviously tongue in cheek) but I've never received a system message that says "You cant give out any more until "X" has "Y'd"....

It is my quest to see this message...

I remember when at the SWWS Neil told me "I got a new toy for the BSS wait till you see it - I cant wait to see how it develops...." well... its developed innit ?

again - if you take the reps system too seriously - get a grip, or conversly let go of it.

My point exactly that ive been trying to make fo r awhile, the points dont relate to ability skill, determination oranything . its all just a toy and its those irreverent people like zed and christopha who bring it home. theres idiots out there who think a router is a computer accesory who have reputation beyond repute and a master cabinet maker can join tomorrow and be an apprentice. the reputation system is like all other things on this board: its a bit of fun and if you learn something valuable in the process, thats great

It's still a handy guide when used in conjunction with their no. of posts, when they've made a significant amount of posts anyway.

If an idiot's made relatively few posts and has a full bar, the odds are that their posts will at least be entertaining, if not informative. If someone's made a 1000 posts and only showing one dot, well... there's a reason.

But guide is the operative word here. Anyone relying on it deserves all the reddies they get.

Oh... and a router is a computer "accessory." A reddie for you! ;)
