The father listened from the other room as his wife patiently said to
their five-year-old, "Please pick up your toys."

After a few minutes, the mom again reminded their daughter.

Finally she asked, "Why aren't you picking your things up?"

Dad rolled his eyes when he heard his daughter answer, "I'm playing
house and I'm the dad, so I don't know where anything goes."

----------- Today's saying or thought -------------------------

We never really grow up; we only learn how to act in public.

When we were first married (1965) we moved seven times in eleven years. After each move it took me at least six months to figure out where things were. SWMBO would hear me opening and closing drawers, cabinets, etc. The conversation would go like this:

SWMBO: "What are you looking for?"
Me: Item
S: "It's the same place where it was yesterday."
M: "I wasn't looking for it yesterday."
S: "Grr, it's in " . . . location
S: "When are you going to learn where things are?"
M: "Probably when I retire."

Actually that didn't work either. We've been in this house for almost 40 years. I still don't know where things are. Although my excuse has changed. Now my excuse is, "I've never been domesticated." :)
