I believe my little daughter wants a pair of glasses.
I don't know why she does.
Perhaps glasses are now "cool" to have in school?
But although she sees just fine, she still says she needs glasses.

I took her to the eye doctor just to check it out though.
She was asked to read the bottom row of letters on the eye chart.

She said, "All right, I can see the O and the P and the T, but not
the N and the Z."

I am near sighted. Some years ago I had an optic hemorrhage. I was out of town and the company insisted that I go to the emergency room.

As part of the initial exam, the nurse had me take off my glasses and cover my non affected eye. I was handed an eye chart and asked to read the bottom line. I responded with something like "Printed by local 1190." The nurse snarled, snatched the eye chart and left the exam area. Incidentally, that was the smallest type font on the chart.

The doctor told me not to worry, gave me some eye drops and sent me on my way.

We had to do eye tests when I was in the Army about once a year.

The medic would say "Cover your right eye and read the third bottom line on the chart." I would cover my right eye with my right hand and read the designated line.

Next the instruction would be "Cover your left eye and read the third bottom line." I would then cover my RIGHT EYE with my LEFT hand and read the line.

Nobody ever noticed that I covered my right eye both times just with the opposite hand. In 20 years my right eye was never tested. There was nothing wrong with my right eye, I just wanted to see how long it would take for someone to notice.

Cheers

I friend of mine has done the same for years. Never been caught out. By the way, he does have a bit of a vision issue with his left eye.
