Any ideas on how this table has been finished ?

If I was trying to emulate that finish, I'd simply spray it in automotive acrylic, or if I was feeling extra brave, 2 pac, and then give it a light sand (1500 grit) and a buffing.

I hope that isn't real wood under that finish - would be such a waste. Looks like plastic to me, maybe its made of acrylic? IMHO wood should look like wood.

treat it like a car undercoat, top coat then gloss, sanding in between.

By gloss I assume you mean clear coat?

A clear coat is not really needed on solid automotive colours, unless you use a metallic colour.

If you want the depth of colour then a clear gloss will help with that.

Yeah, it is the appearance of depth that was important to me.
