Hi I wouldn't recommend storing anything toxic in the fridge.
By all means find a cooler part of the workshop or house, well out of the reach of children if there are any around.

I just store mine in the workshop in a metal cabinet. The problem with the Minwax is that it can build up and congeal around the lid parts due to a not very good design preventing proper closure and shortening the shelf-life.Give the lid a good clean before sealing and storing it.

I have had mine for several years and lost about a 1/4 to a 1/3 of the product due to it becoming solid in the can. I used it constantly and as mention the top becomes a bit gummy over time.

I can also mention that another member of this forum had lost almost the whole can due to it become solid.

One suggestion that I have read on this forum was to store finishing products in an esky. I have not done this myself but I do see the logic in trying to not expose it to much to the air. I also think that a steel cabinet would give it better protection as it is after all a flammable item.

I am the esky person, as well a polystyrene fruit boxes from the local corner grocer. It is not so much for air exposure but to avoid extremes of temperature. For me, they work extremely well. When stored this way I don't see it as a particular hazard as there is no ignition source.

Totally agree with wiping the top, inside and out to avoid the congealing problem. Adding to that, always decant what you need to a container and don't wipe from the neck of the can. I usually decant a little less than I think I need so that I am not tempted to return leftovers to the original can. Better to decant a couple of times than to be stuck with a large amount of leftovers. IMO, leftovers which have been exposed to air as well a possibly dust or bits from your wiper or brush should never be returned to you WOP container.

While on this, I decant into a large glass ashtray, why, shallow, no corners, glass so no metal contamination, easily cleaned, heavy enough to dip or wipe from and not go slipping over the bench, cheap - about $3-$5 at the flea markets.
