This always worries me a bit with the growing number of batteries around and a reliance on their electronics to halt charging when done (or too hot). Metrix might jump in and correctly remind us that some items purchased off the internet may slip through the regulatory gaps as well. I imagine some of these new gadgets / toys have some fairly hefty batteries in them. Aside from not owning gadgets I guess the options to mitigate are fairly limited ... turn off when complete, ensure smoke alarms are in good order, perhaps charge in a suitable place like a laundry or garage? Luckily no one hurt in this case.
