HI , we have just bought an 2 bedroom bungalow which has to no external door as security. (it has a lockable internal door between kitchen and laundry). The inside measurement of door frame is 910mm . A standard door is 870mm . I was thinking of making another internal jam to reduce the width . would that be common practice.

cheers:)

You can get a solid core door up to 1200 wide from memory. It's just strips of pine glued edge to edge and faced with exterior ply both faces. Easily cut to size and a very secure door (bloody heavy though) Otherwise if you want a fancier door they can make one to size for you. Both Humes and Corinthian doors should be able to help. Otherwise you can build up the jamb by adding another 19mm to both existing jambs. I'd prefer the solid core door myself, neater and the extra width doesn't hurt when bringing in furniture or appliances.

Try these, they often have ex-commercial solid doors that are easy to cut to size. The solid doors are expensive new, and even more expensive in non standard sizes.

Your best bet is a 40mm thick extior grade block board door, these buggers can be cut to any size as soild core you are limited to the amount you can trim off.
Most timber yards can order them in if they dont keep them in stock,

Standard door sizes are (nearly) available for your jamb.
Among others - 820,870, 920, 970.
If the original is an imperial size 36" which it sounds like then the 920 size will need to be trimmed to suit.

As others have said solid core doors are available in many sizes . I bought
2 such doors 1200 x 2400 x 38mm thick $240 each made by corinthian doors
for a garage.
