Jools would probably be interested in the demo, but we will only be there until Sunday arvo too due to work commitments on the Monday.

Also we have been offered a bed in Horsham by friends of ours. Therefore we may not be camping out. These friends stay with us when they come to Melbourne so it is hard to knock back their offer when they want to return the favour.

Cheers

Projector is fine to go and I have an old screen (has a few wrinkles) but should do the job. Do we have any others interested or should I just plan for
a demo for Raechell and you? Don't want to bring extra equipment if not required as we may go to Avoca and the Pyrenees on Mondat anf Tuesday - still to be decided.

Is there power available for the caravan or should I bring a generator?
Bob
Bob,

We may need multiple demo's if you're up for it. You may have become the main attraction. I knew I should have been selling tickets lol

If Bob would be kind enough to do two demos, I would suggest one on Saturday evening for those who can only be there Saturday and Sunday and another on Monday evening for the latecomers before everyone goes home on Tuesday. That might cover everyone?

Of course it is up to Bob if he wants to do that.

Cheers

If anyone who is going to the Horsham GTG
is pretty good at finishing please stand up now you are needed badly .
I would like some pointers in that regard please.
At the moment ,my main interest would be ,in finishing small items like saw handles ,tool handles ,extra.boxes.
I would like to use shellac finishes ,more ie French polishing ,but I'm open to other ideas
.My main problem being I'm male ,I'm in patient ,I don't always listen well ,I'm easily distracted ,I'm male ,I'm in patient lol.
This may also interested some others going as well ,so we could get a little tiny group learning thing happening.
Maybe give us something to do ,for a few hours .
Other wise it could be lots of listen to Daves bad humour.
Not sure if it's political incorrect in these times of political correctness, to try and bag our most gracious host all ready( I take full responsibility for me on this one)
Even before it starts .

Well...Dirk and I are starting to think about our trip down to Dave's 4 day Extravaganza and are wondering what would be the best route to take. I need to pass through Austinmer (near Wollongong) for a quote at 9am on Friday but other than that we are as free as a bird. What do you all think would be the nicest route?

Regards

Pete.

DaveTTC

I generally go wagga and cross country from there but if you go down a little further to Shepparton thats nice country

This time of year all the paddicks will be stripped and dry. Not sure if thee will be any green anywhere. If there is pics for evidence ;)

From Shepparton go theough the back blocks. You'll get a few small towns and pass through Bendigo.

Best potato scollops in Australia in St Arnaud about three blocks up the main street on the left diag opposite an old bank I think

Depends if you want to get to Dave's quickly or not but down the Princess Hwy turn off to Kangaroo Valley, Moss Vale onto Hume, down to Albury then across to Daves
or
Down to Batemans Bay, across to Canberra, Wagga then across to Dave

Big Shed
17th January 2016, 11:43 AM
We generally try to avoid Shepparton as it can hold you up a fair bit.

Normally we get off the Hume at Violet Town, then Rushworth to Bendigo through dairy country, then St Arnaud to Dooen.

As I mentioned previously, Jools and I will be staying with friends in Horsham overnight

Our friends, Allan and Annette, will probably want to come out to the GTG with us at some time.

Dave, is that ok with our gracious host?

Allan is a woodworker, but not professionally or as a hobby. To him it is a means to an end when he is doing a project. He does enjoy it though and is very good at it. He has built a very nice wooden trailer sailer which is a testament to his ability.

There is also the possibility that Jools and Annette may get stuck into sewing/quilting/knitting/crocheting and they might not even get out of the house we are staying at. We will just have to see what the weekend brings.

Jools recently acquired a travelling spinning wheel. Trouble is she has not spun for over 20 years. She has been looking for someone to help her get started again.

I will add one travelling spinning wheel and some fleece to the load list for the ute. Maybe the girls can run a spinning workshop.

I believe it is no coincidence that so many woodies have "crafty" ladies. I think they actively but stealthily hunt us down for our layout skills and ability to fix spinning wheels/looms/embroidery frames etc.

Dave, do you have anything that could drill a fairly significant hole in a piece of metal at the GTG?

Cheers

I will bring the job along. It is a tail-vise screw handle hole that they seem to have messed up the casting of.

I bought it years ago so no point in trying to take it back. trying to make it about the same size as the hole in the shoulder-vise screw so the two timber handles can match. I do not have a bit this big.

Cheers

I'm half way there (Wangarrata), too far to go back home and get some chisels and paper plates.
I called into Aldav's place in Albury on the way through, I now have a heavier car and a lighter wallet!. I picked up some parallel clamps, 2 other styles of clamps, some router bits, some hinges and a dust collector thingy. Not all for me, but an impressive haul all the same.
We can play with the dust collector thingy on the weekend, apparently it does an awesome job for such a small bit of gear.
See Ya Saturday,

Alan...

Job is to make the one on the right look like the one on the left. (they are closer in size than it appears in the photo)

30mm or 1 3/16 in the old money would do the job. :2tsup:

Cheers
