Hi all, I am about to spray the above varnish on a jewelery box I have just completed. on the label it tells me I can reduce it with Mineral turps, I have some Motospray Superglow multiporpose thinners. My question is can i use the thinners instead of the turps? Thank you in advance

Hi LA
Only my point of view
But if I had spent some time and materials making a beautiful piece .... then I would invest $4 and take no chances of ruining the piece or the paint not setting properly

As FW have stated turps then why not go with that, they usually tell you that sort of thing because it works.
Thinners may work, why not give their tech people a call and then you will know for sure. The number will be on the can, I have called them in the past and found them helpful.

I would not advise using GP thinners with a turps bassed product.
Particularly if you are going over a turps bassed previous layer or sealer.
GP thinners is a mixture of mild and agressive solvents..... it is those agressive solvents that are the problem.
If the manufacturer recomends mineral turps for thinning, that is a pretty safe choice.
The only other suitable alternative is White Spirit ( not metho), white spirit is a clean white hydrocarbon, I have had good results thinning various clear turps bassed finishes with white spirit ...... some clear turps bassed finishes tend to go a little milky of you over thin with turps .... less of a tendancy with White spirit.
and you may finf the drying time a shade faster than turps.
Turps is pretty much white spitir with a bit more oily fraction, when brushing ( particulary opaques) that oil helps the finish flow off the brush better ..... but sometimes the oil is more hinderance than help.
