Yep! I'm off!

Well it's not as if I haven't dropped enough hints in the last few weeks, the least of them being the new (temporary) avatar!

Still a few days to go, but things are getting busier and by the end of the week there'll be no more of this for a month I reckon, so bookmark all the good bits while I'm away won't you?

First stop Finland to look for Trolls, a bit of a hitch through the Baltic States before catching the train that Miss Marples and Moriarty are on... armed with some blue peanut brittle methinks!

Eventually we'll drop in on some of
Wongo's Rello's (http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/attachment.php?attachmentid=11186) and The-Factory-That-Builds-All-Things (http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/attachment.php?attachmentid=11178).

When we finally return we'll organise that day at the Home of the Biting Midge, and maybe get to try the new LV Jointer!

Whew!!

I'll be round for a day or two, but well... I just wanted you all to know that I'll probably be back!!

:D :D :D

I only want one pressy... :D

I'm looking for a copy of a song called "The female of the species is deadlier than the male" by a band called Moon.

I can't find it anywhere & I'm beginning to think that it doesn't really exist.

Their website http://www.moonsounds.co.uk/index.htm makes no mention of it either, so why don't you email them?

That'll save me going all the way to Glasgow!

Midge,

Please remember to post to the forum as you sip your yak's milk in that Internet yurt in Ulan Bator. If you happen to find a branch of LV there, you may even get a sneak preview of the #7 jointer before you get home. Oh, and if you tire of the troll hunt in Finland, you could always pop into LV, Helsinki, to get one of their plane sacks made from a reindeer's scrotum - perfect for storing those little instrument-maker's planes, and a good conversation piece for the up-coming open day. Have a good trip :)

Do you know something about the jointer, is it nearly available?

If you can see the floor, or more than 20% of bench space, it's clean

Yeah. I'm still trying to find the orbital sander I dropped last week (making oars - they produce nearly as many shavings as masts).

Yeah, me mate put me onto this ubeaut paper - I'm still trying to find him so I can 'thank' him

No, the shavings were all honestly obtained using my unbranded, el cheapo No4 that I liberated from a second hand market, my old block plane that I liberated from my Dad, and my spokeshave - second hand but unused from that same second hand market but at a bargain price. Said spokeshave actually works now that I've finally got an edge on it - it appears to have come out of the Stanley factory with a cutting edge that would make a butter knife coo with envy. :D

Having eaten pancakes in Scandinavia, the Baltic States, across Siberia, Mongolia and in China, she weighs a LOT more than the bouncies would suggest.

I'm not sure whether my personal favourites were the Latvian ones served with the strawberry soup, or the Chinese ones with the Beijing Duck, but I believe the Marples girl eats mostly the Russian ones with the lashings of chocolate, or sometimes the Mongolian deep fried ones with the sweetened mare's-milk cheese.
