Hello to one and all.

Newbie to all this, although I did watch Pop turn a few things many moons ago. I have loved wood working all my life and admired the best.
I bought the Green and White Midi Woodfast Lathe from Carbatec in Perth and thats about it. There was a wood show in Perth a week or so ago and they had very little stock. I did manage to pick up a SuperNova 2 Chuck on special too, but waiting for the tools of the trade to start turning.

I will be looking for information and where to stock up on wood, Jarrah and a few exotics, because I will be turning Wood Cups for Headphones, and people are looking for something a little different.
I also need to study up on woods/tree here in the Sth WA and hope to meet a few West Aussies to brainstorm too.

I'm here and here to stay, so good day to you :)

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "TrickinWood".
There are a stack of members in Perth and surrounds plus the rest of the country.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork & turning......
Cheers crowie

Welcome. There is a turners club in Denmark you may want to check out. It's next to the info centre. I can get you a phone number if you are interested.

Welcome to bloke heaven!!:2tsup::2tsup::2tsup:

As for wood, I'm a great believer in scrounging. I pick up prunings, get onto tree loppers, scrounge on the side of the road,
take a trip to the tip..... Good luck!!!

Welcome to the forum.

I would suggest you take a look at the wood turning sub-forum, click here (http://www.woodworkforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=232) to get ideas and hopefully some inspiration. Ask as many questions as you like, one of the many strengths of this forum.

Big thanks to all the welcomes . . . . I can see this is bloke heaven, and will hit the back pocket pretty well too.

Wood turning is going to be my primary 'Wood Working' genre, but as all Turners will need the basics of other trades, I see this forum will be a great resource. Best part is it is a Australian forum, and our Aussie lingo and sense of humour wont be taken out of context like the US/EU forums, some of which has seen me banned from a couple.

Looking forward to long and happy friendships :)

@DonIncognito (http://www.woodworkforums.com/member.php?u=92263) A phone number would be great mate, as I have turned up (pun unintended) very little . . .

Cheers
