Hi.

I need to refurbish a couple of casement windows that don't open/shut properly.

Old Queenslander house, casement windows probably 60-80 years old.
Whitco-type stays LIKE THIS (http://www.scllocks.com.au/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/n/a/narrow_friction_stay_3_1_1_1.jpg) top & bottom.
Track length of existing stay = 250 mm

From a web search the only replacements I can find are either 200/300/400 mm.

QUESTION:
How critical is track length for a replacement, and how do I determine a suitable replacement?
