Hi,

I had someone measure and order windows to be installed recently - unfortunately they ordered the incorrect reveal size and I'm left to clean up the mess.

The installed had me pay the factory upfront for the windows to expedite delivery and the installer came to install today while I was away - schoolboy error to pay upfront however I didn't pay the installation cost and wasn't expecting any issues. I popped in during a break to find the windows installed and looking odd - see attached pics. The white frosted windows are in the bathroom or laundry where i'll be tiling the walls, the clear window is the kitchen.

They also butchered part of the kitchen wall and bits of plasterboard when removing the old windows, suggesting that I just "get it rendered" - he tried to blame me and said it's to be expected in an old house, it was at that stage that I asked him how he proposed I architrave the windows or finish them when the reveal isn't flush with the wall (isn't that the whole point of a reveal?). Not sure if the pics show it clearly but the reveals are about a about 3-5cm short of being flush with the wall.

Any how, it's done and the cash withheld from the installation to fix the problem should cover my time and cost to repair but it's such a pain.

Should I extend the reveal to be flush with the wall with some dressed pine, patch the join in the reveal (what's the best stuff to use, builders bog) then architrave the butchered sections of wall?

I can't really see the most elegant solution with all of this pent up rage!

The joys of renovating - thanks in advance!

Sam
