Howdy, I'm restoring my grandfather's tools. They have a lot of surface rust, but will clean up well. I'm after suggestions and ideas to prevent future rust after I have cleaned them up. Most rust removal will be via wire brush and helped with molasses dip. Thanks In Advance. Planes, chisels, saws, marking out tools etc. Cheers, Jack.

Lanolin spray?

I've used this on a 16th century iron coin chest..after de rusting it. I checked first with the conservators at the NGV. No problems. so it should be good for tools. :)

For the woodworking tools I use G-15.

You might want to take a look at their website. http://www.australianinhibitor.com.au/page/1/home.html
