Hey All Shane here,
I haven't used a lathe since school 27yrs ago but I want to give it go looking at 3 lathes
1.Teknatool TL.1000
2.Symtec-1500
3.Vicmarc-VL175
1. & 2. can find & buy number 3. I have not found for sale yet..
But I am still looking and learning before I buy anything .

Welcome to the forum.
There is a dedicated wood turning section to the forum, can be accessed from the drop down menu or via this link, http://www.woodworkforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=232
I might suggest that you post questions on lathes in that area. I suspect that you will get diverse opinions on each lathe.
As with any hobby enjoy the time that you spend on the forum and please don't be concern about posting photos of your work(we love photos).

There are a heap of members across NSW and around the whole country.......
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.

Hi yetiman only just read your post, and I see you are from Wagga.
I am also a Wagga ite a member of the Riverina Woodworkers Club here in Wagga.
We have a club house in the Botanical Gardens, 75 members at the moment.
We have a workshop with a good selection of woodwork machines.
Call in and see us sometime we meet Thursday & Saturday mornings & Tuesday afternoons.
