... the counter view received this afternoon from my good friend Rupert the Pom:

I can only see one winner in this test match, but I am hoping that it is the weather!!!

We should have picked another bowler .... we can't keep counting on Freddy.

Oh the pitch looks so flat, it looks likely that you will post a sub 500 score and then try and bowl us out.

Goodness me the ashes looks like staying with Australia. Will I be able to cope with the stick when I arrive in November?

From my perspective, a win for Aus would be a fitting end, NO the poms don't deserve the ashes, it's payback for them keeping them over there the whole time we've held them.

Cheers,

P

Jow - your tv must have been going on and off with regularity. I'm sure your SWMBO was the reason Pietersen was dropped so often.:D

Pietersen was dropped on 0, 15 & 60

That would be payback for all the catches he dropped.

I'm going to ask all my pommie mates if they still "don't follow the cricket much, football is my real interest". Bet they're all suddenly cricket fans, like after the Rugby World Cup when they all became rugby fans!! ;)

There will be a lynch mob at the airport

To be honest, I would have felt very sorry for England if Australia had somehow managed to win this one....

For about 10 seconds... :p

Thank God thats over.

Myth Busters should be back.
Jeez Warnie is good, without him Australia would have been beaten 5 blot. Pity he's such is dill.
Gingerchick was commenting on his gelled hair and makeup for the game. Said he was like crickets Beckham, only if Beckham were to text girls they would like it.

Thanks for a lovely season.

I did warn you though last year that things were likely to be lively this time.

Buying the wife her own tV after her Sunday performance. :D

John, I agree. It was the best series of cricket that I can remember. The Aussies will have to spend some time learning how to bat against good swing bowling. The only thing that was disappointing was the umpiring. In the end I think it was pretty even but I just hate it when the outcome is determined by poor umpiring.

See you in 18 months time.

Gingermick
13th September 2005, 06:37 PM
the outcome is determined by poor umpiring

No no no no, the outcome was decided by lack of application stemming from blaze attitude after 15 years of poor competition.
And what does everyone think of the noise about Englands 12th man? Seems to me that as the 12th man can niether bowl, nor bat, then they would be foolish to pick anything other than an accomplished fieldsman.

Well, since I started this stupid thread, it's only fitting I should get in the final word....
