Hello, I'm having some issues with slow typing. Not me, but the forum seems to go in "slow mode" sometimes??? I have to press a key several times before the character comes up on the screen. I notice the auto save flashes each time it goes slow. Can I turn the auto save off to see if its the cause? I'm on my work computer at the moment (don't tell my boss!) and its doing the same thing.
Interestingly enough, its not doing it on this page??? It was freaking out on the pen, wood and private message pages. No scrap that, its freaking out on me again now!!!

any help would be great,

Thanks,

Ash.

Yes, Explorer.

I'll try another one when I get home and let you know how I get on.

Thanks for the quick response.

Why is this the only forum it happens on?

Probably because this forum has recently upgraded to the latest forum software. Neil puts a lot into this forum and keeps everything current and up to date. Most forums (fora?) are run by tech savy volunteers and it's often easier to leave things as they are rather than go through the hassles of an upgrade. I have no idea if this is correct. It's just a guess on my part.

This problem raised its head a couple of years ago. I downloaded Modzilla and haven't been able to get rid of it since.
Recently I downloaded Windows 10 and it has started again.

This was fixed last time. Hoping!

I am new, and having the same issue... my introduction of two lines took almost 5 minutes and repeated typing the same letter and having to correct. Definitely annoying and I'm on a digital line at the office... if I am at home I am on a country sat line and likely won't be able to do a thing. Anyone... these responders didn't seem to have a response though this post like OP's seems fine for the moment. grr

This is quite an odd problem, can you please tell me what version of explorer you're using?

Just confirming I cant recreate this issue with Microsoft edge. I'll wait to hear what version you're running :)

PS its always good practice to make sure you're running the latest version of software like this.

For those who experience slow typing in Internet Explorer on this site (if it applies to other sites, you have a more general problem and this is not the fix for that)...

Go to "Settings" at the top right of the screen. In there, look down the left side, almost to the bottom, and under "My Settings", you will find "My Account", which has a section in it "General Settings". Click "General Settings", and scroll 2/3rd of the way down. Under "Miscellaneous Options", you have a choice of "Message Editor Interface". Set this to "Basic Editor - A simple text box".

Close down Internet Explorer, and reopen it. Test posting again, and the problem should be resolved.

I believe the cause is an issue with the full WYSIWYG editor in Internet Explorer.

Done lots of tests for this over the last couple of years and it has so far always come back to Internet Explorer. Some versions of it do not want to work with this forum and up until now the only fix for it is to use Firefox or Google Chrome.

Both seem to work well and never show any signs of the problem(s) mentioned here.

I use both and spend lots of time on here without ever encountering these problems. However IE has always given me problems for at least the last 6 or so years. I have tried edge in Windows 10 and didn't have a problem, however in all fairness I only tried it for a short time and didn't give it a chance to throw up any problems.

My preference for years been to use Firefox but their constant updating does sometimes get on my goat with some Add-ons and Extensions going missing for days or weeks until they are compatible again.

Hope this is of some help.

Cheers - Neil :U

One way to work around (sometimes) squirrelly online editors is to compose offline, e.g. NotePad.

You can massage your message as you like, then just copy and paste into the online editor.

Another benefit is to save (on your computer) as you edit, in case of broken connection. REALLY frustrating if you lose connection while editing online.

Cheers,
Joe

i think you should delete temporary files from your system and use a registry cleaning freeware.
