View Full Version : Damages awarded in defamation case against a forum

This forum, like most other forums, at times removes content posted by our members that we deem to be potentially defamatory.

As Admins/Moderators we are sometimes roundly criticised for doing so by the posters of this content and others who usually say we are over-reacting.

A case published on the ABC website today shows that there is a real danger of a forum and/or the poster(s) being pursued in the courts and having damages awarded against them.

So, next time you feel the need to post potentially defamatory or slanderous comments take a deep breath and think again.

If you still post it and the Admins/Mods remove it you now know why, so don't turn your anger on them.
