I just wanted to say Happy Birthday to the Forum. To Neil and all the Admin people THANK YOU. And to all of us in Cyber Land I hope we can continue on for more than another 16 years.

I joined in Jan 2009. As soon as I stumbled across it I knew I should join! I start my day with opening up the computer and seeing what's going on. Some days I get swept away with some of the threads other days there doesn't seem much to look at. The members here have helped me get through some rough times with the Black Dog that hovers very close to me. To be able to put your hand up and vent things and then to be supported by others who know what I am feeling is just soooo good. Thank you all.

Since getting on the forum I have have acquired not only knowledge on a lot of subjects but I also have found that I needed more equipment and tools to pursue my "hobbies". Here is a list of just some of my acquisitions; Alaskan Chain Saw Mill, this led to 12" Thicknesser, 12" Jointer, which led to a 3Phase Converter to drive them, a Bill Pense style ducted Cyclone Dust extraction system based on a 2Hp DE, an upgrade of my home made Wood Lathe, a smaller up grade of a Metal Lathe, a cache of slabbed "exotic" timbers, a Wide Drum Sander, great advice as to how to get a Band Saw to operate correctly many techniques as to how to better use hand tools and machinery....

The list goes on. I have also copied a heap of Jokes that are on here as well. I don't know what I am going to do with them but I have them ready. I have also been able to add bits from my experience to help out when some one has a problem.

Thanks again for the Forum, it is now a big part of my life

Edit; just to make the paragraphs to "flow"

I echo Rod's comments. Very rarely do I not check the Forum on a daily basis.:welldone::cakerms::drink:

Rod from his above post was obviously ahead of his time "I joined in Jan 2099. As soon as I stumbled across it I knew I should join! I start my day with opening up the computer and seeing what's going on…." :D

For me it was 2005.

Had a great time, learnt a lot, from what I have heard back helped a few.

This is what it is all about, THANKS to Neil and company for their efforts.

Compared to the above I'm relatively new to the forums but like them I have learnt so much, met some great people, have been able to acquire some much needed tools and machines but most importantly the friendlies of the members and their help and advice with no expectation of anything.

To the admins congratulations on 16 years and big than you from me for such a great site.

Yes Neil, thank you....

The forum was and is my Men's Shed online but only better with all the help, support and encouragement I've been given by some top blokes and ladies who enjoy sharing there knowledge and experience both in the shed and from work & life....:2tsup:....

It's a case of the more you give, the more you pay forward; the more you receive from this great forum...:).....

I've met some top folk and become friends with quite a few, so again THANK YOU!!!!.

Cheers, crowie

PS - Sorry for all the font & colour changes in my early posts............

Well done, Neill to have been so forward thinking back in 1999.
Well done that we liked U- Beaut and we found out about this Forum.
Thanks to all the willing Moderators who ensure it can keep going without too many hassles but most of all, thanks to all the members who share of themselves so well.
I like Crowie's idea of it being his Online Men's Shed, but one that is open to everyone.

What they all said :exactly:

On a note of agreement I have found that I have "needed" more tools of a higher quality because of reading posts from forumites

I thank everyone for this but I imagine the chancellor of the exchequer doesn't necessarily agree
