Hi folks
I have recently retired and am still adjusting to shock of having spare time after owning a 7 day / week small business for the last 20+ years. Missus wants me out of the house, and not interfering with her routine. So moping in the shed a while ago I was looking at my fathers saw bench buzzer combo. He was a mechanic by trade but loved cabinet making and woodworking of all types. He had even built a family home doing all the bricklaying, roofing, fitting out etc; He took after his father who was a builder. Sorry to ramble on but it gives a bit of a clue to what genes may have been lying dormant in me.
Anyhow after building some very elementary pot plant stands and even converting a tin garden shed into a chook house with nesting boxes and perches I am getting interested in doing more.
Current project is restoring my dad's HABCO Homeshop. even lying dormant for 30 years, the electrician said the motor was in good condition and all he had to do was do a new switch box as the old metal one was no longer legal.
A local cabinet maker has offered to re-sharpen the blades of the plane and the saw while I am cleaning up the other components.
I have even started sharpening up my father's and grandfather's old chisels and plane blades. There is even some wooden planes in the boxes.
I am in awe of what you guys are achieving with your projects but I see myself learning by doing simple toys for grandson for a while.
cheers
Bob
