SWMBO was in the habit of having long telephone conversations that usually lasted over an hour.
One day she hung up after 25 minutes.
"What is the matter?" I asked.
"You were on the phone talking for less than half an hour."
"I got a wrong number," the she replied.

Similar situation:
I have not spoken to my wife for the last three months
.... I do not like to interrupt her whilst she is on the phone.

Alternatively, you ring the wife, phone engaged or sound muted for DND
If she rings you and you dont answer or are busy talking real talk, all hell breaks loose because she cant get you

Before the MFJ (Modified Final Judgment) which effectively separated the long distance carrier from the local operating company (Phone company) I received a call that was a wrong number. This was about the time of the winter solstice (Northern Hemisphere) holidays.
I didn't think much of it but I could tell by the background hiss that it was a "long distance" call. About a week later, again a wrong number call. This time I recognized the voice. I asked, "Didn't you call last week?" "Where are you calling from?" "Oh we used to live there." A nice chat ensued until the caller realized that he was paying by the minute for the call.
