View Full Version : Drop bolts on French doors not staying closed

Hi all,

First time poster so please be nice :)

The doors that give access to our balcony have tower bolts that won't stay closed. This is what they look like Cast-Iron-Matt-Black-Door-Tower-Bolt-1900.jpg (http://www.doorhandles.com.au/images/Cast-Iron-Matt-Black-Door-Tower-Bolt-1900.jpg)

If the door moves a bit because of the wind (or our 10 month old daughter decides to bang on it), the bolts will literally drop open from their holes.

The bolts are cast iron and on the heavy side, and I am guessing not sitting snugly in the hole so a bit of movement will cause them to drop open.

I was thinking of "filling" the sides of the hole but not sure how/what material to use for the job.

Would anyone be able to suggest some ideas to get this fixed?

Many thanks,

Rog
