Blue board - any tips on using it.

After looking at display homes at the weekend SWISO wants a water feature. Fair enough I think (or good excuse for more tools I think).

The one we have seen a just a boxed up frame covered in blue board and painted in render / pattern paint.

Does anyone have any tips on using blue board i.e fixing, finishing edgejoining etc ??

I don't know much about blue board because I have never used it.

Scott Cam did do a demo with it on the Scott show a month or two ago. You work with it just like plasterboard. Make a frame and glue and screw it on.

I remember it has one great advantage, you could wet it down and then it could be shaped into curves. Plaster up the joins with gunk (don't know which one) and I don't think it even needs much sanding because the render which is just painted on pretty much covers it all up.

I do remember the paint come render is painted on with upward strokes.

I am not a big fan,but if you must use blue board,don't use glue on it.If you are doing alarge area and need more than one sheet,you need to put them on vertically,or the joins will stand out like dogs proverbials.I wouldn't take too much notice of what they do on Backyard Blitz.Afteralll ,they are only doing a dodgy job that wouldn't stand up to any scrutiny.If you ring Hardies,they will send you out their fixing manual for the blueboard.It is quite comprehensive,and will tell you more than you need to know.

So youre thinking of putting in a water feature??? Is it an above ground feature?

Try and talk SWMBO out of the idea....if you cant do that then youd better make sure the bl**dy thing is really water tight or like me youre going to be spending endless hours tracing leaks and very little time actually enjoying the thing.
