Hi all
I found this on the beach some years ago.
I found it with the metal detector. Gave a very good signal.
Looks like graphite, very light weight, broke easy.
The piccys are parc sorry, it has a metalic luster, through a loupe it has spherical balls all over the broken surface.

Hey Al! gimme back those bits off my flying saucer! I crash landed on your planet a few years back and am still trying to repair my craft so I can get back to the mothership. I'm finding it hard to locate the pieces as all those alfoil beanies are deflecting the rays of my locating beams.

Hi Ozwinner,

Could this be some of the material that the vessel "Glomar Explorer" was designed and built to recover from the ocean floors? I know that the "GE" was commissioned by the CIA for various (and often mis-reported) nefarious affairs, but also believe that it's original mission was to recover these molybdenum (?) nodules.

Anyway, can you do anything with said "balls", or is it just a lot of old ballshttp://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/images/icons/icon10.gif

Cheers!

If you run a fine file over it where it cuts through the surface does it get to a harder silver material about 2mm down and are the fillings you get much darker than the surface colour
and are there random black "indentations " roughfully twice the size of the balls that if you stick a pin in feel soft at the bottom of the hole for another 2mm or so

When you say light weight is it heaver than a piece of aluminium of the same size that has suffered from extensive salt or caustic corrosion .

I was tempted to reply along the lines that we already knew that crap was acceptable because if it wasn't, 90% of the posts on this BB would be instantly rendered unacceptable - but I decided against it. :D :p :D
