The simple answer seems to be just explain it in the body of your listing that it is not an auction and the price is whatever or open to negotiation.

It's not only you Huey! I know of a few forum members who have mentioned that they will not use it as well and have gone to Gumtree!

I have seen items in flea bay that are classified ads, I have not used this method personally but I gather it lets you set a fixed price for your item. There is also a facility to add " make an offer" to your advert. potential buyers will make an offer that is sent to you and you can accept it or reject it.
Re trying to edit your current advert, I don't think you can, I recently tried to do that and was rejected at every turn.

The Market Place/Auctions part of the forum is a way of putting up your item for sale. It defaults to Auction and will run for 2 weeks. If the item is not for Auction you can state that in the description. It can also be closed early if the item has been sold. There is more flexibility in this format and all discussions are between the parties involved.

As well as putting the price in the body of post..you can also put the reserve price & starting bid as the same as the price you want for it then minimum bid as $0
