MRE - abrasive cloth used in metalwork

and, why wasn't one of the very first ones as follows ???

(I was in Termite's shed when this finally clicked - I had to hear someone else say it out loud, before I understood the phonetic pun)

D for cate
E for the love a mike
F for vessence
Gee for crying out loud

I for Evans
J for Oranges
K for African
L for leather
M for sis
N for cement
O for the wings of a dove
P ?
Q for everything
R for mo
S ?
T for two
U for me
