G'day all

The fifth BM GTG will be on Sunday 2nd November from 10.00am.

FORUM GET TOGETHER:

Sunday 2nd November
from 10.00 until we run out of yak (the verbal kind)
Bring what you want to eat, or you can share in Thai/Chinese as we did last time
THE BBQ WILL NOT BE ACTIVE - no longer here
BYO liquids, although we could probably supply drinking water
Bring a collapsible chair (although don't worry if you are coming by train)
Regardless of your local weather, bring a jacket or similar, even though it's November

As usual there will be no theme, but maybe you want to bring a small tool or two for Show & Tell. Something that's hard to get, rare, super-useful, or that you have made yourself.

SELL & TRADE TABLE If you've got something you want to trade or sell then bring it along.

We will supply:

Coffee & Tea
An address (I'll send a PM in due course)

If you want to share in Thai or Chinese then please let me know - I will be ordering it a day or two beforehand. It usually works out to around $7 or $8 per head.

Cheers
Brett

Not to worry, a heap of fire wood and PLENTY OF SPACE FOR A GOOD WARMING FIRE......:D......Got a cube stacked right outside the front door (all straight too), ½ a cube near the fence, another cube down in the green hutch, and a 6.2 metre piece of 165x65 Douglas Fir.

Should be right, but may not be able to build the shed extension.

I think I'm in the right place now. Just replied to Crowie who was on the 4th GTG  . So I had better repeat the bones of the post:

"Two weeks (to go) http://d1r5wj36adg1sk.cloudfront.net/images/smilies/standard/eek.gif . Holy mackerel I better get working. I think I can make it down there. Is it still snowing? We're in stubbies and thongs up here (that's "thongs" plural. I don't want any deviate southerners to get the wrong idea http://d1r5wj36adg1sk.cloudfront.net/images/smilies/standard/redface.gif .)

I was hoping to bring along some hand saws and back saws for:

1. Show and tell
2. The users (actually, all my saws are users; There's no passengers in this neck of the woods http://d1r5wj36adg1sk.cloudfront.net/images/smilies/standard/wink.gif).Hands on testing on range of woods.
3. A few for sale.

I will post some pix later on. Looking forward to meeting up with old friends (and young friends, although increasingly the young ones outnumber the old ones http://d1r5wj36adg1sk.cloudfront.net/images/smilies/standard/confused.gif : What's happening?)"

I've collected a few items to bring to the GTG for sale.
Marking gauge, hand planes, block planes, chisels, a couple of thread boxes and taps.
I haven't really started culling yet but I have to pack up the workshop and put everything in storage in the next couple of weeks so I'm sure I'll find plenty more.

s anyone by chance going to Carbatec before the 2nd? I need a new #M face mask:
http://www.carbatec.com.au/3m-disposable-half-face-respirator-mask_c21127

BTW, these are the duckz nutz: they'll keep out ammonia, turps, Danish Oil, and even a cat fart. Good for about 12 months. I was cleaning up some dried possum pee in the shed a few days ago (having previously locked the possum out of the roof), and ammonia seems to be the solvent of choice. Had to use a fair bit and had my head right over it. When I finished I went back up the other end of the barn and took off the mask - the shed was overwhelmed with ammonia fumes, but I hadn't smelled a thing.

I think all five timers should be awarded a Disston No.99

329337

As you can see, and this is a quote from the Disstonian Institute:

" The handle has more medals than a French General."

En garde!

Paul

slow-ish thru Wenty & Bullaburra but good from Lawson down the hill.....

The Bullaburra leg ain't too bad now... it's normally 60 instead of 40, but that depends on the type of roadworks they're doing at the time. (Started resurfacing today!)

Of course, even if it is 60 there are always the rubber-neckers who'll tootle along at 30 or less for the whole of the single lane section. :((

I've found a fair bit more and a few give aways as well. Looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday.
And I am now a Sydneyite/Sydney Sider/Sydnerian . Starting a new job and moving to Dee Why next week.

Soon to need a psych exam to figure out why you did it. It would take a very good job and a shotgun to make me live in and work in Sydney again. Tony, did you seek professional help before you made this decision?:oo:

I did. I tried to hire some professionals to help me with a job but they said hitting the Comm Bank head office was just too big a risk. So back to the daily grind. :D
I'm really liking this job so far. Next week I go in to pick up the new car, phone and uniforms and then we all head to the pub for the afternoon to watch the Melbourne Cup. I'm assuming we will be doing this every week, but with a different sporting event obviously :U:doh:

:o Gee's I'd better pull the finger out and do some work on walking sticks if you're moving closer. I agree dumb move wish we had never moved back from Tamworth should have headed north across boarder instead or east to coast.:C

The up side is I can now look at some possible leccy type matters for you to play with :p

Gents, I won't be making it this time.

All well on the home front, just work is expecting me to work, not sit around semi comatose from a big day of driving and yacking.:~

FenceFurniture; You had me down as a confirmed and up until just now can I say that I am confirmed at attending.

I will also bring my own lunch and fluids, although I suspect that I might be consuming most of it on the train. :U

Looking good:

20°
Partly cloudy. Slight (30%) chance of a shower, most likely in the evening. Light winds.

http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/forecasts/katoomba.shtml

That's an improvement on the forecast 2 days ago where they were saying 16° and 40% chance of a shower during the arvo.

Now 16° is just fine by me, but all you Sydney girls would be a bit chilly. :D
