Yeah I know it's just an advert, some tv fluff that shouldn't be taken seriously, but is anyone else here unimpressed with AAMI's new tv ad - the one that encourages/justifies stealing a co-workers lunch as a means of saving money.
What sort of message does this ad send to our children?
I nearly got hurt dealing with an office thief once - I invited him down stairs for a chat, the clumsy sod tripped on the stairs (I think the stairs in the lift were some form of back up) and I nearly burnt my lip on the coffee my manager bought me.
There is nothing worse than being at work and having to guard your stuff.

Also not impressed with the new Telstra ad that has a person throwing the packaging from his new phone on the beach. According to this ad the wildlife likes to live in the rubbish. Hmmmmm.

I wasn't complaining about the new phones, just the disposal of the packaging. But I suspect you new that and are pulling my leg :D.

When we moved here 30 years ago, free to air TV reception was crummy at best and unwatchable many times. When Austar came we hooked up with them. Beautiful picture, reasonable programming and bugger all adds. Yippee .......but the bubble had to burst eventually. Now nearly 16 years later, the damn adds drive me mad. The stupid nature of a lot of them make me ask "What are they trying to sell?"The frequency of the add breaks is nearly as bad as free to air lately. Do they think we are incapable of remembering anything too? They repeat the same add in every group of advertisements as well as repeating the same add in the same bracket. Are we morons or are they making us into morons?

Most viewers are not morons but are passive to the whims of the TV programmers. The frequency of the advert breaks and types of advert are aimed at a Pavlov type of response. When shopping I need/want "X" so what comes to mind - the item with the highest frequency, I have seen it the most so therefore this is the one I need. This is part of the theory and with many it appears to work - to me, it has the opposite effect - think of how much cheaper it could have been if less had been spent on advertising, I also prefer to do my own research to see that the item will do what I want.
Perhaps the 2 most annoying/frustrating things are,
1. The endless, frequent, mind numbing, moronic promotions for coming programs. I'm told that these are not adverts but promotions - seems a little like the distinction between a tax, levy and a fee. Is it just me or have others also noticed that the greater the frequency of a program's promotion the lousier the program is.
2. The start/finish times of programs. The programmers obviously have no respect for their audience and seem to be of the opinion that that is good enough for their viewers. While the audience continues to accept this standard it will not change. The TV guide apparently is just that - a guide - to me, if a TV station has "advertised" that a program starts at X time but the program consistently starts 5, 10, 15, minutes late then this is fraudulent advertising.
We watch very little live TV, got a twin drive recorder and use it for eliminating all of the rubbish the programmers are stupid enough to think I will sit through, my time and sanity is worth more than that.
I could go on but this is probably enough.

OK Here is a novel approach to mind numbing insurance ads......How about the same formatted ads but featuring real stores like Lee Valley, Carba-Tec, Carbi-Tool, Boutique timbers,Timber Bits, Carroles, McJing.......now those ads would be worth watching.

While we are dreaming, how about a video recorder that eliminates the ads. I know that can be done. Also can any one explain why the ads come up louder that the TV show you are watching.
