Iain,
You've got to laugh at someone who posts a blonde joe, and incorrectly spells 'Blonde' :P
I now spelling errors shouldnt be criticised on this forum but hey, you stuck your neck out!

Blond (feminine, blonde) is a hair colour found in certain mammals characterised by low levels of the dark pigment eumelanin and higher levels of the pale pigment ph omelanin, in common with red or ginger hair. The resultant visible hue depends on various factors, but always has some sort of yellowish colour, going from the very pale blond caused by a patchy, scarce distribution of pigment, to reddish "strawberry" blond colours or golden brownish blond colours, the latter with more eumelanin.
I never mentioned gender, Tikki would fang me if I did :D

(I had to say that coz if I didn't, she'd bite me  )
My thought on first seeing the header was, 'he's spelt blonde wrong'. Then I saw the piccy and realised he'd spelt it right because he was mirroring the spelling used on the car ... which is the yank spelling btw - correct over there, but not here.

In French, blond is the masculine form, blonde the feminine. Since English does not mark gender on adjectives, there is no reason why blond should not be used for both female and male reference, but many people do use the form blonde, especially when referring to a woman with blond hair.
Both blond and blonde are in there. But then it IS the Macquarie Dictionary...
