Hello
I live in Alice Springs and want to see if there are other members here as i need to see if I can get access to a jointer or thicksener (see my other post).
Is it possible NOT to bother the whole membership list with a question that will be irrelevant to 99.99% of them?
Or is it possible to directly post/email members that live in ASP (can't remember if location is on member profile).
I hope this only gets to a few people and not the whole membership.
Cheers
John

Given not everyone gives their geographical location as specific as a town I doubt that even the mods can reach the sort of specific audience you are after..
Even if they could do it I doubt the mods would let a member access those email as a block.
You could put an advertisement in the wanted section of the Market place stating exactly what you are chasing
These ads have state based tags in the header that means that members from other states will just ignore those posts.

Actually, a similar question had occurred to me several times in the past. E.g. when I had 4 spare days in Perth last year. Fortunately, I knew a couple of members lived there and they knew of others....
Another forum I frquent (motor cycles) has a members' map that members can connect to. They can locate themselves as close or otherwise as they are comfortable to be. The map is only accessible to logged-in members.
But it does make it easy to find people to contact in your neck of the world.
It looks like this, with the cursor on my 'pin', which shows my forum handle in the white box:
323185
Might be an idea for the forum owner to look into?
It seems that it is an available feature for this forum: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=293495
