Over in metal land we have noticed that we are getting double posts some times and replies can be slow to update; pictures even more so. Is there there a Houston moment happening?

I've noticed the same thing, I thought it may have been my computer or internet provider. Generally it use to be really slow in the mornings (about 0500 onwards) but it seems to be slowing up anytime I use it. Maybe we have to many users?

There have been a couple of thread started about the forum being slow.

To keep everyone informed this has been brought to the attention of the Administrators.

In regards to the duplicate postings there has been a slight increase in the last few days. The admin and moderator teams are removing the duplicates when they come across them. Of course if some are there for a few hours please report them as duplicates. To report this please use the little triangle at the bottom of the post.

I've found pages just a bit slower to load than other forums or websites on the internet over the last couple of days.

I have to agree with Cliff!

The forum had some kind of outage this morning between about 9.15 to 10.15. ("server too busy"). That's probably common knowledge i suppose.

However, what I have noticed, and is a bit weird, is that the forum in general is not too bad a speed for loading (we have pretty slow net here anyway), but the Market Place is chronically slow. I've put up a fair few ads in the last 16 hours and they take between 3-6 minutes to load, sometimes timing out.

This seems really odd when other parts of the forum load within reasonable time (5-10 seconds).

I am also finding that the forum is slower than I have experienced in the past and has been for a couple of weeks now.
Cheers Frank.

When was the last time you ran a COMPACT on the database or run an execution trace on the PHP?

It's a glacier at generating pages.

Hi there

Would it be possible to let us know what you're doing on the site when you experience slowness? eg; posting or editing a post. Or maybe Searching or browsing etc.. It's also helpful if people can post a firebug since it can help rule out network problems and show any bottlenecks.

There is also nothing in the slow query log since backups were run over night. The database is running much better since I fixed a few issues earlier in the week.

regards
Steve

Usually just opening threads or trying to reply to them.
Seems to be worse when I include an attachment.

Good point on the firebug. I'll do that when on the PC.

I just (2 finger) typed a big reply to a thread & then lost it to this message.

The server is busy, try again later.
Bugger that, I have better things to do.

Thanks for the update. I had a long chat with Neil today and we're going to undo the change we did about a month ago. There will be a few little blips later tonight, then you'll notice it will be a lot faster.

Shockingly slow! :? Just spent nearly ten minutes to log in (2310hrs). kept receiving message "The server is too busy at the moment. Please try again later." the same on 2 other PC's I have and only on the WWF site.
Notice that it has been getting slower over recent days??

Where? :?

I hit the 'Submit Reply' button & got the 'Server Busy' message, there is no way out of that as far as I can see & if you hit 'Back', you get the 'Reply to Thread' screen with a totally blank message box.

I got the same message as Cliff at about the same time last night. I was not posting so not greatly inconvenienced but pleased to see that it is to be fixed.
