I tried a forum search for this but did not ask the right questions.
Previously I have used Cabots Krystal Clear water based polyurethane brushed on. It is possible to apply many coats, and then sand with 800 & 1200 WD paper for a near mirror finish. The product is well named, and does not introduce any tint or darkening. I like the finish but it is painfull to produce. I I am looking for a harder similar finish which can be sprayed with a simple Wagner airless. Any help please.

Buy yourself a decent belt driven (motor seperate from compressor) compressor for starters will be a big help.

Hard Shellac (Dewaxed) (http://www.ubeaut.com.au/hardshell.htm)

Bad/unfortunate colour in the pic. But sprays well and won't change the colour of the timber any more than wetting the timber with water. A bit harder than polyurethane.
