I had a pm from Alan yesterday saying that it was a near thing but they a both were OK and their home was not under threat at that time. The fire had apparently came up to the edge of their estate which is only a few streets away and that I consider close enough.

Thanks Russell, we have seen in the past how quick these fires can run through a housing estate so Allan was lucky.:2tsup:

Thank you for your interest and am pleased to report that all is ok
at our place. Five homes lost about four streets away. Police had door knocked
homes in nearby streets instructing residents to evacuate.

The missus was in Melbourne for a function on Monday. I had a shower of embers to
contend with whilst she was away. Fortunately it only lasted about ten minutes when
the wind changed and the fire moved toward Darraweit Guim. I had a look out there on
Tuesday and it was black as far as the eye could see.

Since then the main fire has advanced North for about 50-60 kms threatening some small
towns/areas. The wind has been a problem here as flare-ups continue to occur and
keep sweeping back into Wallan like a magnet.

The Country Fire Authority, Police, S.E.S. and others have been doing a magnificent job
and must be exhausted. The sound of fire trucks and helicopters have been constant
on Monday and Tuesday.

I did put a photo on the forum within "Photography" which I took from about four
kilometres from home as we departed Wallan on Monday.
