Guys Im about to pull most of the wooden windows panes out so I can
sand back more easily and repair a few cracked panes of glass.

The house is from the 50/60's and im guessing the widows and or
frames have shrunk over time so they are very rattly,

The sashes seem ok because I know my father replaced them
about 20 years ago but I will replace again , my issue is the
gap between sliders/side frame and window frame,

Did these originally have some kind of felt strip to stop them
from rattling and stop them from jamming on an angle if you
push one side over another or is this a shrinkage issue.

How do I overcome rattles and jamming issues.
Possible some plastic strips either side acting as sliders/guiders.

Thanks all.

So new question where does one buy seal strips for sash windows which
seem to tighten up the windows.
