Just saw this on the SMH (http://www.smh.com.au/news/World/Hidden-fault-LA-disaster-alert/2005/05/26/1116950793282.html) website, 2nd last paragraph. I never knew that earthquakes and pancakes were related and so dangerous.

I guess I'll be ordering the short stack next time I go to a Pancake restaurant. Don't want to take any unnecessary risks :(

IMHO Civil defense offices should only be located on the top floor of high rise buildings...that way once the quake has pancaked the building the jolly old civil defense office will be nicely relocated at ground level and ready to open for business
