I arrived home on Sunday afternoon after three days at the Sydney wood show. It's around a three hour drive to Sydney so we stay down there for a couple of nights.
I was greeted by this
279092
on my front door step.
Its a 2.4m lump of freshly milled spotted gum. It weighs 25 kgs.
It's from a fellow forum member and the note reads,
"I was chatting to Trent Powry from H&S and he mentioned that spotted gum heartwood with the sap wood attached makes the best longbows. I know you shoot recurve but I thought you may be able to make a few bows from this." Or words to that effect anyway.
Thanks Paul (Bushmiller). An extremely generous gift which is greatly appreciated.
I will do my best to get at few usable bows out of it. In about 2 years time that is :U
I'm going to have a chat to some excellent bowyers I know to work out the best way to go about it.

Very nice Tony but as you said the generosity of Paul [aka Bushmiller] is tops......

Amazing generosity. To go to those lengths for a fellow woody mean Paul is not only a top bloke, he's an amazing fella as well.
