I have recently returned to Oz after flying the flag in Texas for 7 years:aussie5:. Now living in the Perth Hills with nod of acceptance from SWMBO to pursue unfulfilled passion for working with wood..when asked by my primary school teacher what I wanted to be on leaving primary school ~47 years ago replied 'builder'..this didn't happen and I have taken a very different path ...apart from a few years woodwork at Glen Waverley High School in Melbourne have not had any formal training but have always had a few tools and examples of my 'handy work' have been left in different homes I have lived in :D...I have many furniture projects in mind and realize I have a lot to learn and not enough time with major work and family commitments (2 boys at home aged 11 and 13 and 6 month old German Shepherd dog)..currently setting up my first serious workshop in the double garage, desperately seeking solutions for alternate storage of kids bikes, skateboards, garden tools, christmas decorations, etc..have made some major tool purchases already (I am definitely obsessed with this!) and have already found this forum to be of great assistance..looking forward to learning more and sharing some of my projects with y'all...

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "texozmoses".
There are quite a few members in and around Perth as well as the rest of the world, even Texas, USA [Not the Queensland town...lol]..
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork & setting up the garage [you could always buy a small tin shed for the other stuff...lol].
Cheers crowie

Welcome aboard TOM. Get ready for an interesting ride.

RE: Storage
Do you have any room in your roof for storage?
I did a 4 x 5 m attic conversion with drop down ladder about 7 years ago - today it's chokka but I'm still glad we did it.

Thanks Crowie and BobL,

Yes, that is what I had in my home in San Antonio Texas...and what we had stored up there is a big part of the problem now.. Not as much head space above my garage here but still worthwhile I suspect..managed to come through the garage ceiling in Texas..family got a great laugh

Welcome to the forum. Just by what you have written so far it seems that you have gotten the bug on creating something. :2tsup:
