My wife bought a secondhand wardrobe. Its too big as a single unit so we've decided to separate the carcasses and get rid of the decorative base.

Each side of the wardrobe will then sit either side of our son's bed. Wife wants them far enough apart to fit a queen bed in between. I like the idea but means they are going to be hard up against or about 50mm off the wall. Luckily the wall is plumb and will fit up against the wall nicely. This means removing cutting and replacing the skirts and picture rail.....she doesn't want that :~ and reckons its fine up against the skirting with the gap between wardrobe and wall. I don't  I could cut an infill panel to close the gap that moulds around skirt.

What would you do....help before I lock someone in the wardrobe!
