I have a carved round side table with 4 stools that fit under the table.
It weighs a ton.
My friend's husband was in the navy, they bought it when they were living in Singapore then brought it back here when they came home.
It is stained very dark brown like walnut.
It depicts the great wall of China and a battle between the Chinese and the Mongolian Hordes, covered with a glass plate.
The apron is different all way round and each stool depicts the piece of the apron it belongs to.
I am absolutely certain it is hand carved.
One of the stools have had a broken leg which was fixed with a pocket screwed wooden button :oo:
The table has either been polished or cleaned vigorously and the stain on the apron worn off in places revealing a much lighter timber underneath.
I would love to know the value of it as well :)
Does anyone know of a reliable restorer up here in the North of Qld?
TIA
