Filling floor joist nail holes

Do the builders/renovators out there among you ever actually fill-in the holes left by the nails of previous floorboards before re-nailing? I have one joist that is beyond help, one that is generally OK, but three/four that have wicked nail holes along their lengths. I fear that on re-laying new boards I'll miss (hit the holes) too many times and end up with some secure, some 'flappy' boards. If so, what's your recipie, and if not, do you simply replace? Bit expensive?

Never worried about old nail holes and never had any problems.

depending on how bad they are you could try turning the joist over, although I generally replace any dodgy joists especially if they're outside. I don't think filling the nail holes inthe joist will make any differance not with any filler i've ever heard of.

You could use longer nails but the filled heads might become a tad noticeable.

Nail laminate a new joist to the side of the old one and nail into the new one.
