Hi All
I have been a visitor here, on and off, for the last 12 months or so. I have found the resource very good, so I thought I should join. I don't have a lot to contribute at the moment, other than questions.
By way of introduction, I live on the Gold Coast; I work in Brisbane; I have a small property on the southern downs east of Warwick. I have always enjoyed working with wood/timber and have never been any good at metal work. My preferred "wood-working" tool at the moment is my Shindaiwa chainsaw, which one day soon will be upgraded. (Also on my wishlist is a small mill like a Lucas.)
I obtain most of my rough timber from my property. The previous owner(s) seem to have ring-barked a lot of trees and left them standing. So I have a reasonable supply of well seasoned, air-dried timber. For the last 5 or 6 years, I have been re-vegetating as I remove the dead trees. So far, I have replanted Red Cedar, Forest Redgum, Tallowwood, Yellowbox, Rosewood, Silky Oak and White Mahogany along with a small selection of fruit trees.
Thanks. And what a great forum you have created.
Darrell
