Hi All,
I'm a retired engineer looking to improve my woodworking skills & build a few projects for a new house at Tenterfield.
After living on the Gold Coast for 30 years we decided on a change of scenery & love the cool climate of Tenterfield.
First project will be to rebuild a crosscut jig that no longer cuts square.
I'm pretty sure I got the original crosscut jig idea from your forums.

I'm blown away by the breadth of the forums - surely the most comprehensive source of woodworking info around.
Looking forward to an occasional contribution.

Welcome aboard Neville, obviously we have a different understanding of the word "cool" as I have been in Tenterfield in the winter and cool it aint, "bloody freezin"would be my description. Enjoy the journey all the same.

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "Neville".
I have an old mate who moved to Tenterfield a year ago who's quite a good woodworker & turner who I'm pretty sure is on the forum.
[I'll send him an email with a link to this thread in it]
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork.
Cheers crowie

PS - Keep warm up on the highlands......

Hi Rumnut,
I agree Tenterfield can be cold - especially if you have to work early in winter.
I have the luxury of rising a little later & enjoying the crystal clear day that follows a frost.
Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome to the forum. Personally I prefer the heat so I am hoping for a mild winter in Sydney.

g'day Neville

Welcome aboard, where's Tenterfield. Kinda sounds like somewhere I should I know

If you want to meet a few from the forum and some from other places who share a passion for Wood Working you may like to check this out.

http://www.woodworkforums.com/f25/wwjj-woodworkers-jerilderie-jaunt-feb-2014-a-170839/

At this time it looks like we will have a variety of competent woodworkers there with skills in flat work, wood turning, carving and perhaps milling.

It will kick-off about lunchtime Friday and run thru till Sunday (if some want to stay Sunday night that is fine too)

Opportunity to spend one on one with some of these and whoever else is there and willing to share there time and expertise.

The invitation for you and whoever comes - bring some tools, bring some wood (these are optional but desired if possible) you can sell, swap, work with it or just watch others.

Mandatory if you come - a smile, willing spirit, desire to have fun learn and enjoy yourself.

Hope to see you there, if cant make it we'll see you round the forum and who knows maybe at some other event

Take Care

Hi Neville, I'm new here myself and live not far from Tenterfield. Actually the chair I sent a pic of in my intro a couple of threads back is one of a pair, with a table, that is currently in the "Forest to Furniture" gallery in Tenterfield. A couple of other items too. There is some really classy woodwork in that gallery (besides mine), including owner Michael's stuff. Well worth a look.

Hi Dave,
Tenterfield is the last town on the New England before the QLD border - a bit cool ( couple of minus 4 degrees this week) - Jerilderie Jaunt sounds like a great escape but I'm unlikely to attend - still focused on establishing the house. Thanks for the interest.

Hi Ken,
Yes, I've been thru' Michael's gallery last year - he has some great "real" furniture - always a pleasure just to visit. I'll check out your table & chair at the gallery when next down that way. I'm setting up a temporary workshop under my deck - the garage / workshop / shed will hopefully come next year. First jobs are basic bookcase, shelf desk and entertainment unit. Down the track, I'd like to improve my skills - bit hard just now with only the basic tools. Thanks for the post.

No worries Neviller,

Thanks for thinking about it anyway. Hope your house stuff goes well. Looking forward to seeing pics and other posts.

If you change your mind or circumstances change your always welcome or if you happen to be passing thru on another occasion give us a hoy. Sounds like a bus might be coming don from Sydney if that is of any interest

regards

Dave
