Skylight or skytiles?

I want to put a skylight into our kitchen. I was all set to go with a glass skydome (but flat rectangle) with a rigid tube down to the diffuser. Have now had a suggestion that the clear skytiles are much better, with the flexible reflective tubing! Does anyone have suggestions as to which would give better light - it has to go on an east facing roof because of surrounding large trees.
