View Full Version : Spring-loaded door knobs?

Hi All,

I need to replace some knobs on interior passage doors. I.e., only the knobs, not the whole latch.

I bought one set of these Gainsboroughs from Bunnings: Gainsborough Hardware - Classic Range (http://www.gainsboroughhardware.com.au/ClassicRange.aspx)
They fit ok, but... the Gainsborough knobs are not spring-loaded (unlike the old knobs). Result: there's not enough springiness in the latch mechanism itself to make the latch spring outwards when you release the knob. :~

I've been unable to find info on the web about possible alternatives similar to the Gainsboroughs in appearance which are spring-loaded. On every website I've looked at they don't even mention spring-loading of the knobs at all, afaict.

Did I simply grab the wrong item in Bunnings, or are they all like that now?

I'm reluctant to start travelling all over Sydney trying to find spring-loaded knobs unless I can be sure they do indeed exist (in a style similar to the Gainsboroughs I linked to above).

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions. :)
