View Full Version : Who am I: Number V

There was neither man, nor animal, birds, fishes, crabs, trees, stones, caves, ravines, grasses, nor forests; there was only the sky.

There was nothing brought together, nothing which could make a noise, nor anything which might move, or tremble, or could make noise in the sky.

Nothing existed. There was only immobility and silence in the darkness, in the night.

Let it be done! Let the emptiness be filled! Let there be light

The above is a 'selective' extract from the 'Popul Vuh' ... It is your first clue, unless you beg ... Haaaaa. There is only one guy on this forum that just may know this, but he iz in Germany, so we haven't gotta worry, and this is the second clue

Who am I: I am a forest, the most primitive forest of all, the first forest. If I was not first, you could not have followed.

:sneek:

Eden

Hmmmmmmmmm .... I wasn't expecting that. I don't know if thats close or not. But its certainly a good try.

But, the forest has a name and its not Eden. Eden was a garden, and if this forest is a garden then it has no flowers. (Third clue)

haaaaa ... Greg

Hmmmmmm I have dim memory of Popul Vuh being something to do with the Mayans.

So perhaps the central American forest of Guatamala?

Amazon...(guess)

No ... Sorry... I had to make this one hard as the others were getting them too easily.

Fourth clue: I mark the epoch between a non-metal age and a metal age. Nothing remains of the old age, nothing at all, I was born from its cooling ashes.

How I appear to you .....

I think this clue has blown it .... Haaaa

Sorry Arthur ... I posted on top of you. But your memory isn't so dim .. Not many have heard of the Popul Vuh.

The Black Forest?

wow ... Now I feel that I have made it too hard in order to defeat google. Google is allowed on this one.

I don't want to lie man, and I'm all fa not using google, but the great interweb wizard found me the answer. Now your first clue makes sense!

I didn't expect the forest to be that large, that far away or that light, but in hindsight it's elementary.

wrong ... But man o man, I was going to ask this question on the cyno bacteria forest and changed it at the last minute ... Far out

good try

Fifth clue: each side of my 'box' is 30 million light years across

Last clue: The universe came into being, as we know it, in less than a trillionth of a trillionth of a trillionth of a second ... And many things began to happen ... There was enough energy left over from the big bang to form the lighter elements, but not enough to form metals.

the first stars (suns) to form from the chaos were huge metal-poor stars. They burnt their fuel (in nuclear reactions metal can slow the rate) so quickly that after just 400 million years they were exploding all over the place as they went supa-nova. Whole galaxies became huge supa-novas ... And the first Universe vaporised itself.

Nothing but radiation left, all matter destroyed. As the dead universe continued to expand the energy was diffused. This can be labelled cooling. Soon a temp was reached where matter could form again. Hydrogen cloud suffused the entire universe.

This cloud is known today as the (place answer to question here)... And from it, we, all matter formed.

The Cosmos?

no ... But it once filled the universe (cosmos to some). Whereas in inflaton theory the universe is a just a raindrop in the cosmic ocean (alternatively .. The fundamental substance or zero-point energy field)

final final clue : my initials are L-A forest

Los Angeles? :D

Good grief ... Thats a good one ... Haaaaa

but no ... The answer iz : The Lyman-Alpha forest (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyman-alpha_forest)

a universe wide hydrogen cloud that formed after quasars and type II STARS had vaporised the universe turning all matter into radiation. 400 million years after the big bang. The stars that we are familar like our sun formed from this cloud.

Thanx for playin guys. greg

Physics is not my strong point, I can never tell what any one is thinking.

But I was thinking the "L" in L A Forest had to be Light.

Good Game, I hope the next one is a bit easier, like what are the Tuesday night lotto numbers
