VALE:
Anthony CLARKE
Senior Constable 30108
Knox TTU
Shot with his own gun by a motorist.
Rennie PAGE
Senior Constable 30621
Benalla TMU
Killed by a passing motorist.
I am saddened by the loss of these, my colleagues. All they did wrong was go to work. :(
Please do not offer me your sympathy, I didn't personally know either of them, so I don't need it.

It is sad though.
Keep your wits about you, everyone you pull over is a f**kwit.

Unfortunatly the cops tend only to deal with the scum. Sometimes they need reminding that Mr and Mrs average can't imagine what it takes to be a cop and are bloody glad that there are people out there willing to do the job on our behalf - we know there is nothing in it for you.
"You are a better man than I am Gungadin"
Those that need your sympathy are the families that didn't chose the life of a cop, but had the life of the next of kin thrust upon them. I have a few friends that are cops and I still don't get the reason they go to work and put up with the crap they do, and I don't know where the wives get the strength to see them off each day .. and that goes double for my friend in the SOG.
Dan you don't have my sympathy - you chose the job, but you have my upmost respect and gratitude

Another question for the mental health authorities who were aware of his condition, and the family saying how he is now relieved of his torment.
The poor bloody family of the deceased member have just started theirs.

Bipolar disorder really is a true madness as most of the sufferes really cannot tell the difference between right and wrong.
But insanity etc should not be an admissable defence to a crime

Psychotic people cant tell the difference between reality and fantasy, are manic depressives (apologies for not using PC name) in the same category?
Back on thread, I think we are in need of a public holiday honouring Police and other Emergency staff.
I imagine it would be a bugger of a job at times and that the remuneration probably isn't what it should be. They have my respect

Can't do that. There's no horse race associated with them and there aren't any votes in it

and the only ones working would be the police and emergency services.
I'd be lucky to be able to tell you the dates of most of the public holidays now. I rarely know what day of the week it is.
Thank you all for your kind words. The job is not all doom and gloom. I get to meet people from all walks of life and amongst them you find some truly good people. I got a present for my new baby delivered to the police station from a woman that MrsP and I helped out a while ago. It was a really nice surprise and it is good to know that your efforts do not go unnoticed all of the time. I often say that 90% of the time they pay me too much for what I do. The other 10% you couldn't pay me enough for. (Although its probably 80/20 now)

Dan,
My condolences to the families of both officers.
While nothing can make up for their loss, may they take comfort from knowing their loved ones died doing a task of honour.
