Hi all just introducing myself Pat from the Sunshine Coast,Queensland. I found this forum searching for the viability of Celtis sinensis (Chinese Elm) as a candidate for woodworking. As it turns out it's not much good for anything. I have recently got back into hand making timber fishing lures and thought this forum would have some useful tips on carving and preparing timber for such purposes. I work as a Bush Regenerator controlling environmental weeds with the purpose on encouraging natural bush regeneration. This work brings me in regular contact with three tree species Camphor laurel (Cinnamomum champhora),Chinese Elm (Celtis sinensis) and Broad-leaved Pepper (Schinus terebinthifolia) of which I hope to take some samples from to try and cure/season for lure making. I also have access to edible Guava trees that although don't have a decent girth display an interesting pattern on the bark so possibly have an interesting grain. Guavas however have a twisted nature but for the size of a lure,( usually 40 - 80 mm) so big slabs aren't needed. I know Camphor laurel is a great timber to work with but has anyone worked with Pepper trees ? So far I have worked with Balsa, Pinus radiata, Meranti and Red Cedar. Cheers Christos I found that thread you provided a link to after I made the first post. When I originally tried to post a pic a different screen came up - one without the browse box - which is what I am accustomed to on other forums. I'll try now to add a pic and see if the browse box comes up when I click on "manage attachments" here goes. Nope same screen :no: How do I get the old method of uploading pics in an "active mode" so I can post in the "active thread" ? Pat.

The old one will not work.

You have to select attachment icon, this will give you this screen

Select Add Files button which will give you another popup, then select files button.

Browse the folders to select the files you want to upload. It will take you back to the screen where you then select upload files option

Then select done on the bottom of the screen.

You should be able to manage the files and place them in the location that you desire.
