It's now been about 12 months since we had the digital TV satellite disk installed, we did not have a choice.
That's the worst blunder the federal government has made :~
A few things we have learned :
1) The slightest hint of rain and we lose signal. It rains a LOT here
2) It seems like Imparja, the server to whom the regional contract has been given, is based in the NT, all the commercial breaks are about NT and SA, doesn't matter which commercial channel.
3) All programs are set to daylight saving, we do NOT have daylight saving in QLD.
4) We know where just about every shop in Alice Springs and surrounds are and what specials they are having. Nothing at all about what is happening in regional Queensland. A very long way to travel from Far North Queensland if you want to buy something or have it delivered.
5) We knew all about the council elections in NT but not a word about QLD.
6) We know all about NT sport but nothing about what is happening locally.
7) We have to interrupt viewing of normal programs to watch regional news on a special channel, normally it would be straight after the QLD news.
8) Only ABC has switched to digital radio.
9) Whomever is in charge of the commercial gets the buttons confused sometimes and either cycles the commercials a couple of times or interrupts mid program to transmit yet another round of commercials coursing the end of a program to be lost or suddenly switches to a completely different program.
9) WORST OF ALL, NT AND SA HAVE NOT EVEN SWITCHED TO DIGITAL NEWS AS YET, IT WILL NOT HAPPEN UNTIL 1 JAN 2014.
Not happy with the switch at all :(( :((
