How about a Tent for a Spray Booth ??

Does anyone have any thoughts or experience about using a new 3mx4m + tent for a sray booth .
There is no where around me that isn't dusty, previous attempts at sealing with either resin or varnishes etc have all ended with dusty speckly flecks.
For about $150 on ebay It seems from a neophytes perspective to be a cheap option.
I would appreciate hearing about your experience.

Consider the material the tent is made from - is it flammable? Will it suffer from the solvents in the finish?

Good point I do not want melting when I'm in it or later over the work Canvas ?

I think if you can seal it up effective enough to keep the dust out then you have no ventilation - which doesnt sound healthy. I also have no possibility of Building a dust free environment so I just switched to spraying lacquer. The problem with spraying varnishes etc is they take so long to dry that every bit of dust in the environment will find its way on there. Spray lacquers are different. They are pretty much dry as soon as they hit the surface, so even though I spray outside dust is seldom a problem.

These still need ventilation.

A tent may still be possible if a room air filter was located outside the tent with it's outlet fitted into the side of the tent so that the filtered air over pressured the tent, the tent door would need to be left partially open to allow for solvent extraction.

Since the tent is relatively small only a small filter would be required, something like this should do it.

It would only need to be run while spraying takes place.
Some effort at ventilating the solvent away from the text would be needed (ie big axial fan) and the fitting of the filer would need to be on the wall opposite the doorway otherwise the filter unit will just suck solvent back into itself which would then enter the tent as well as possibly gumming up the internals of the room air filter.

Zipwall tents are commonly used by American painting contractors. They usually attach a blower like this Allegro Industries AC Blower With Canister — 15-Ft. Ducting, Model# 9533-15 | Ventilation Equipment| Northern Tool + Equipment (http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200378466_200378466) . Not too sure about the configuration or whether it sucks or blows etc. You can buy blowers like this for as little as $100 at Harbour Freight.

We used those things when we painted labs with 2 pack epoxy They suck or blow simply according to how they are oriented. However they do not filter dust out of the air so if they are used as a blower it will push dust into a booth. If they are used in suck mode they suck dust into the booth. They also generate very little pressure so putting any sort of a filter in front of them will seriously stall the airflow
